About

My name is Karen,

I was born in Mexico. After 15 years I moved to Edinburg, TX, right on the Rio Grande Valley. After graduating high school in the RGV I moved to Odessa around 2022 to start college at the University of Texas Permian Basin. In which I’m currently a junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in graphic design.

Some of my works are focus on music because music is art, and that is not only a fancy, emotional or metaphorical way to describe it. Music is part of the subdivisions of art which are seven: painting, sculpture, architecture, literature, music, performing and cinema. In my art I portray music as a constant presence in my life and as a reminder to myself to never forget it is a part of me. I chose to use flutes to represent this concept since it is the first instrument I learned to play (still do), and my first choice; I have been involved in music ever since I was 12 years old and it has really changed my life, and art was the perfect way to express those passionate feelings.

Also, I try to put a lot of focus on formal elements of art when it comes to digital pieces. Since graphic design is what I am going for, I try to create designs and projects appealing to the eye and that they meet the goal of drawing the eye of the viewer to deliver whatever message needs to be delivered. While most of the time I go for a more “mechanical” method when designing, I’m also trying to get out of my comfort zone and still have decent and good results.
